A pianist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and arranger, Lello Petrarca stands as one of the most eclectic, sophisticated, and communicative voices in contemporary jazz and songwriting. His expressive language moves with absolute fluidity across the boundaries that connect rigorous academic tradition, European-rooted jazz improvisation, and the evocative textures of Mediterranean world music.

Endowed with a pianistic touch of extraordinary dynamic sensitivity, Petrarca finds his natural habitat in analog realism. His music thrives on breath, tactile micro-details, and that acoustic truth revealed only through authentic, raw performances entirely free from digital manipulation.

Career & Major Collaborations

Graduating with a degree in Piano from the Conservatory, he has forged an exceptional career that has led him to perform on Europe's most prestigious stages and festivals alongside icons of both Italian and international music. Among his most significant artistic partnerships are those with Daniele Sepe—with whom he shared historic European tours and recording projects for RaiTrade and Il Manifesto—Stefano Di Battista, Fabrizio Bosso, Markus Stockhausen, Gianluigi Trovesi, Rosario Giuliani, Gabriele Mirabassi, and the renowned tenor Pino De Vittorio.

His versatility has also made him a favored artistic partner in the worlds of theater, cinema, and culture, collaborating with prominent figures such as Isabella Ferrari, Marco Paolini (co-signing the score for a documentary on La7), Gea Martire, and the mathematician Piergiorgio Odifreddi. Furthermore, he has opened for global icons like Al Jarreau and Richard Bona, reaching outstanding international heights including a performance at the Usadba Jazz festival in Russia and a concert tour in Bulgaria by official invitation of the Italian Ambassador to Sofia.

His discography as a leader stands as a manifesto of continuous timbral and compositional exploration, unanimously applauded by specialized critics:

The Birdbox Records Roster Imprint

Lello Petrarca perfectly embodies the BBR philosophy: placing the pure emotion of the acoustic instrument, the tridimensionality of sound, and the indissoluble bond between the performer, the space, and the listener right back at the center of the experience.
