Alto and soprano saxophonist Paolo Recchia presents his fifth release for the new label Birdbox Records, featuring a quartet of top-level musicians widely recognized by the jazz press and public: pianist Luca Mannutza, double bassist Giuseppe Romagnoli, and drummer Nicola Angelucci.
“Imaginary Place” welcomes the listener into a creative space where the musical ideas of the band members intertwine, finding new common ground by blending traditional jazz with contemporary elements into a personal synthesis. It’s a generous live album centered on a deep desire for mutual respect and a shared love for this music.
The work is composed of original material and jazz standards. Some of the compositions are by musicians who have directly influenced Paolo Recchia’s playing and serve as a source of inspiration in terms of harmony, melody, and rhythm.
