Every BirdBox Records reel now comes with a custom-designed adapter, crafted to ensure an impeccable listening experience. Specifically engineered for tape machines featuring standard AEG spindles, this accessory enables the secure and stable mounting of your professional 1/4′′ NAB audio reels, guaranteeing maximum reliability throughout every stage of use.
The genesis of this adapter stems from a project entirely developed in a CAD Fusion360 environment and produced with FDB (Fused Deposition Modeling) technology. Our objective was to create an element that was simultaneously distinctive, functional, and more affordable than existing market solutions.
We have developed an intelligent design that harmoniously integrates lightness and solidity, drawing direct inspiration from the original concept of the adapters used on the iconic Studer C37-J37 recorders from 1960. These models originally employed an AEG-DIN plastic adapter for pancakes, specifically engineered not to burden the motors. We have adopted and refined this very system, further elevating the quality and aesthetics of the final product.
The material selection was crucial: it guarantees high durability, excellent resistance to impacts, and chemical agents, ensuring safe and reliable use during standard playback, rewinding, and editing operations on your tape machine. We've paid meticulous attention to the tolerances of the AEG spindles to ensure a perfect fit and unparalleled stability during every playback phase. Each adapter undergoes rigorous mechanical testing to verify its compatibility and secure hold, reaffirming our commitment to the excellence that distinguishes every BirdBox Records product.
